Hatfield El School Ratings & Reviews

My daughter has attended Hatfield Elementary since 2017 when she started kindergarten and our experience has been positive, Hatfield promotes an inclusive environment. I've always felt that I could communicate with staff and felt heard. As a parent, you do feel a sense of community and I've always felt my daughter is being challenged academically and is learning subject matter appropriate to her grade level and beyond. I think Hatfield Elementary does and has done an exceptional job of fostering her growth both academically and emotionally and we are grateful for the support we feel and look forward to when our two younger sons will attend.

D'ana Waters drove this school into the ground as the principal. Wes Heinel has continued the trend of bombing performance with his tenure. Both of these inept principals have shown how their lack of leadership and ineffective planning has turned this once budding school into a mere daycare for Hatfield's youth. If you want your children to be educated, Hatfield Elementary is not the choice you want to make. This school deserves zero stars!

This school may have done well in the past but has recently taken a turn for the worse. After voicing concerns about my child's remarkably light homework load and speaking to friends and family with children in other schools this school has me really concerned. Our children are not learning nearly as much as other children in the same district and outlying district schools. Although this school holds reading fundraisers quite often the course material that the school suggests is quite rudimentary. We are considering alternative options at this point.

This school is a waste of my son's time! I have spoken to his teacher throughout the school year last year (2016-2017) in order to engage and challenge him. My son is very bright and operates well above his peers and yet his teachers assured me they would give him more work and attention during the day. However, I feel my son has wasted a majority of his time with these people and this school has not motivated him to learn at his capacity. If it weren't for my husband and myself our son would be just another average, bland, mediocre child. This school is more concerned with arts and crafts and social events rather than actual education. We are now looking into private school or the possibility of moving!

GreatSchools Ratings are based on student performance on state tests, progress over time, and college readiness, in addition to how effectively schools serve students from different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average). Ratings and reviews help parents compare schools. We encourage parents to also visit schools, ask questions, learn about programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process. Data provided by © 2025. All rights reserved.
