My child is in the Pre_IB program and loves it here! The classes are challenging and the teachers are great! Love that they have so many cool electives like Pre-Vet, Marine Bio, Video Productions, Gaming etc. The principal, Bryon Durias is a true visionary! My oldest child also attended SMS @ 10 years ago and 5 stars back then as well. Although it is in middle of Sanford, we have never had any safety issues whatsoever. The campus is safe & gated. It's an Excellent School!

Most of the teachers literally don’t teach, and the ones that do only teach electives.

I am a parent of a 7th grader who did the GEMs program and now is doing the honors program. My daughter is doing incredibly well, she repeats at home all the time how happy she is in this school, she enjoys learning. The school offers health sciences courses and is the perfect school for students who are planning to go to Seminole High to prepare for a career in medicine. Last year we met in a shopping store the parent of a former SMS student, she was being recruited by schools such as Harvard. Just last week, we met again, and her daughter is now attending Princeton. On the negative side, the school has a gigantic student body, students who don't have the maturity or the discipline, might enjoy schools with less students so they don't get lost in the numbers.
