Whitman is amazing I don’t have any complaints with my kids going to this school.

Even during COVID, doing phased in learning, two days in person/three days virtual, my son looked forward to and enjoyed middle school. The principals Mr. G and Mr.Brock as well as the professional, tenured, staff were only concerned about the mental and emotional well being of my son as expressed on zoom conferences, emails and phone calls throughout the year. My son’s first year in middle school was not a normal one, but it has been good, he has great friends, and new ones too! I have seen the counselors, teachers and principals handle bullying, even recently, and continue to educate the kids on this. There are policies and consequences, and communication to students and parents. It isn’t rampant and is not ignored as some posts may suggest. Whitman has a fantastic, diverse, community of families and I am so glad we are a part of it. Our son is thriving and LOVES his school! Really looking forward to next year and more normalcy.

Once Mr. Grochowski took over as principal the lack of control started. My child was bullied all year long even on the last few days of school. The principal informed me that my child was not telling the truth when there has been issues with this other student before. The students are wild and disrespectful and lack self control. Student have overheard staff saying the principal doesn't like to get involved with student drama and it clearly shows. If someone can't handle kids and their issues and set them straight they should not be a principal. The open enrollment for Wauwatosa should also stop. It is bring in kids who have no respect and do not care about their educations or others. More deserving kids should be at the school. This used to be such a great school and it has really gone downhill. Very sad. I am very happy my child is finally done with Whitman Middle School.

The principle is truly on top of important issues and the staff members are completely dedicated to insure every student learns, feels comfortable and most importantly excels academically.

GreatSchools Ratings are based on student performance on state tests, progress over time, and college readiness, in addition to how effectively schools serve students from different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average). Ratings and reviews help parents compare schools. We encourage parents to also visit schools, ask questions, learn about programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process. Data provided by © 2025. All rights reserved.
